Homestead Conservancy

Homestead Lake is the best of Benoni's lakes.  On the eastern shore is Farramerre, and on the western side is Alphen Park. The southern side borders the N12 Witbank Highway and on the Northern side is Mercury Street. 

 The Blesbokspruit which is an internationally recoognised wetland, flows through the area.  The spruit is protected under the RAMSAR Convention.

Two of the spruit's tributaries flows into the Homestead Lake.  One of the tributaries comes from Blaauwpan through Atlasville into the northern part of the lake, and the other tributary flows from Rolfes pan into the south western side of the lake, into Middle Lake, then Civic lake, into Kleinfrontein dam, out into a south eastern direction past New Modder into C.R. Swart dam and Vic Penning Bird Sanctuary to Springs.
